Want to be a TEDx'er?

Creative, innovative minds wanted. Audience applications are still open for this year's TEDxCopenhagen event

On 26 September, Copenhagen’s TEDx organization hopes to bring talented speakers and performers together with an engaged audience for a day of networking and innovation.

”You don’t have to be a scientist, anyone can participate,” says Mikkel Noe Westh, Communications Director at TEDxCopenhagen, who encourages students to apply. ”We want to actively broaden our audience.”

Unlike most conferences, where attending involves merely buying a ticket, TEDx adopts the format of ‘inviting’ its audience of approximately 640 innovative thinkers.

Could you be one of the 640?

So, how do you get a coveted spot on the list? In order to attend, you must first write a motivated application, outlining your desire to participate. If your application is judged sufficient, you will be given the privilege of purchasing a ticket.

The TEDx website throws out vague phrases such as ‘generosity’, and ‘drive’, but also states that they are looking for the unexpected, and was to be inspired as much by their audience as by their speakers and performers.

”Of course, it is about innovation, creativity, and technology,” says Mikkel, ”but it is also about someone that it eager to hear about new things, and about what they can do with this knowledge. I often meet more interesting people at TEDx than in my professional and work life.”

Applications to attend are open until 19 August, and can be found here, or off of the TEDxCopenhagen site.
