This September, Station – a Student Innovation House – proudly presents an innovative art exhibition as part of Specialefestivalen 2024. The exhibition takes place on 27-28 September 2024, with a premiere on September 27 at 4 p.m.
For the first time, the Specialty Festival invites artists to be part of the program. This group exhibition experiments with how artists and academics will interpret the topics: Future Work, Sustainability, Biology and Health, AI and Immersive Technology, and Inclusion, Society and Democracy, and how art coexists with and enhances research.
The exhibition presents a diverse group of Danish and international self-taught artists who work with installations, performance art and video art. The works explore themes such as; the tension between beauty and disturbing aspects of AI technologies, visual symbols of the COVID-19 pandemic, our relationship with pain, societal expectations, the connections between emotion and color, water pollution, government involvement in empathetic situations, climate change, sustainability, and LGBTQIA+ representation in non-university taught subjects.
During the festival, art installations by Christina Lokmann Iversen, Cassandra Murphy, Ene Bissenbakker, Effi Summers and Jørn Hulgaard Sørensen can be found throughout the house. Some works are subtle and hidden, camouflaged as everyday objects, while others are large and dominant and invite exploration.
A performance art program will run on both 27 and 28 September with the artists Emilie Lykkegaard and Selma Liise Erkut.
“CONTAMINATION SITE” by Emilie Lykkegaard will be performed:
27 September at 17.45-18.00 and 19.45-20.00;
28 September at 17.00-17.15 and 19.00-19.15.
Location: The Green House, 2nd Floor.
“TechnicalManipulation” by Selma Liise Erkut will be performed:
27 September at 18.45-19.00;
28 September at 18.00-18.15.
Location: The Playground, 3rd floor.
Finally, guests can enjoy a cinema experience showing video art by Vibeke Bertelsen (Udart), Hanna Stokes, Nanna Hammer Tiittanen and Astrid Sten Andersen, in The Wunder Kammer on the 1st floor. The videos will be shown throughout the festival and visitors are encouraged to pop in and out throughout the event.
Background on the host organization:
The thesis festival is a festival where recent graduates share their knowledge and research results with the public to promote a dialogue about future solutions on both local and global scales. Station functions as a dynamic meeting place for students, candidates, professionals and other actors, where you can exchange ideas and inspire each other.
The festival is supported by KU, CBS and the Frederiksberg Foundation and is hosted by Station and the Ungdomsbureauet.
