The director of I Am Belmaya, Sue Carpenter, will host a masterclass on issues contained within the film ‘I Am Belmaya’: women’s rights and the challenges of the patriarchal and caste system; issues around documentary filmmaking, working as a Westerner with other cultures; how to work sensitively and collaboratively, navigating power roles of the director-subject; and how social change can be driven by media/film.

Sue Carpenter has been involved in Nepal and women’s rights for 20 years. She is a Founder Trustee of GlobalGirl Media UK, empowering young women through digital media training.
