ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
The rise of the humanities in the early nineteenth century was an integral part of the rise of nationalism and cultural nation building. Jørgensen will present some examples of this tradition with special reference to history, one core discipline of the national paradigm, and discuss the relation between nation and arts in more recent times.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Claus Møller Jørgensen is Associate Professor at Aarhus University – Institute for Culture and Society. His research areas include: Danish cultural-, social- and political history (19th cent.), Nordic history (19th cent.), historical methodology and scientific theory.
