Fashion on Søndre Campus

Campus Life — This week, Uniavisen is seated in the heart of Søndre Campus. While having so many different and interesting looking students walking by, the following question came up quite quickly: What do students actually wear at University?

Four times a year Uniavisen is leaving the office behind and work directly from Campus. Whilst being surrounded by the everyday UCPH buzz, we were inspired by the students’ style: Their mommy jeans, male purses, personal vintage wear and casual coolness.

We were wondering why students dress the way they do. Do they choose carefully what to wear or just grab whatever while probably still being half asleep? Should it maybe be more vintage, or high class or is it also okay to leave the house with comfy sweat pants?

Uniavisen got curious and went on a little fashion journey. We found eight very cool students on Søndre Campus who presented their outfit of the day and gave us a brief statement on what they wear and how they got it.

Paul, 26, History Student - "I bought this jacket because it's something Will Smith would also wear in the Prince of Bel Air. I really love that jacket - even though my girlfriend hates it."

Xenia, 24, Art History Student - “I actually try to buy recycled clothes but I also love to buy vintage. We are lucky to have quite a lot of thrift shops in Copenhagen."

Marie-Louise, 24, History Student - "If I have enough time in the morning, then I do think more carefully about what to wear. Otherwise I will just choose something. Anyways, I always want to feel comfortable and warm when I have a long day of Uni ahead."

Adam, 30, Theology Student - “Everything is second hand except my glasses. They're from a secret place in the inner city – I bought them from a private optician.”

Karina, 19, Law Student - “I do think about what I am wearing at Uni. I like High-Street Fashion. So, no, I don't go to flea markets or second hand stores."

Eleonore, 20, History Student - “I normally buy second hand because it's way cheaper and more cool. The raincoat is new though. When I moved to Copenhagen, I had to buy one right away. Otherwise I won't survive the Danish weather.”

Hassan, 20, Middle Eastern Studies - “I wear whatever I can find and is laying around my room. I just choose something. I don't care.”

Asli, 22, Law Student - "My clothes should be comfy but also stylish. That's all."
