The relationship between the law of the sea and climate change is not clear-cut despite its obvious importance. To better address the multifaceted issues of climate change related impacts on the oceans, it is worth exploring the opportunities for States to utilise the dispute settlement procedures under UNCLOS to resolve or advise their potential disputes with one another. This seminar discusses the potential litigation process that could be used by relevant States to address legal disputes or issues relating to climate change related impacts on the oceans.

Zhen Sun is Associate Professor (Research/OSGM) at the World Maritime University. She teaches and researches in public international law, law of the sea, regulation of international shipping and the protection of the marine environment.
