Copenhagen Bioscience Lecture - The future design of life

Foredrag — The lecture on December 7 features two different angles of our future. Using real life cases, Britt Wray will explore complex and pressing questions that advancing biotechnologies open up for us as individuals and as a society in terms of their application, ethics, and governance. As research in human genetic modification moves from the lab to the clinic, and from the traditional spaces of scientific practice to the private dwellings of biohackers, we all have a stake in what happens. Eric Bennett will discuss the current “bottle necks” for efficient detection of CRISPR/Cas9 induced genome targeting events in mammalian cells and a promising methodology developed for the detection of genome targeting induced insertions and deletions (indels).

CONCEPTThe Copenhagen Bioscience Lectures are a series of open lectures for all researchers and other interested in and around the Copenhagen area. Every 4 weeks, on a Thursday evening, you are invited for lectures on themes with a general interest for the Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Centers and bioscience researchers in general. Often there will be a cross-disciplinary focus.
