Are you an individual interested in Life Science and want to explore and expand your knowledge of opportunities in academia and the industry?

Synapse – Life Science Connect will be hosting the annual Copenhagen Life Science Summit ’19 on Thursday May 9th – a full-day conference that aims to bring together students, recent graduates and professionals to listen to talks and participate in discussions relevant to life science.

The summit will have 3 sessions, each with their own focus.

Session 1: Sustainability in Life Science
In 2015 the United Nations set the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to provide shared guidance and a global partnership to work towards peace and prosperity.

In the first session of CLSS’19, Synapse will shed light on how life science can contribute to achieve the goals and global sustainability.

At the summit, you will have the opportunity to hear three prominent speakers give inspiring talks about what they do to promote global sustainability, and what life science students can do to engage in sustainability.

Mauricio Graber, CEO of Chr. Hansen, will cover how and why they work with sustainability in their corporate strategy, and Claus Stig Pedersen, Head of Sustainability at Novozymes, will talk about how Novozymes collaborate with UN Global Compact. Finally, Professor Katherine Richardson will give a talk about what opportunities there are at universities to engage in the global sustainability agenda, as well as give a perspective of impacts the pharmaceutical industry might have on global ressources.

Session 2: Creating an Innovative Environment for Students
Medicon Valley is a true cluster of life science, with some of the world’s leading companies. With globally recognized innovation in the area, it is important to have a strong environment where ideas are supported and are able to grow.

To inspire innovation and collaboration, the second session will feature industry and university leaders within innovation. The session will feature CEO Jens Nielsen of the BioInnovation Institute, covering how they guide research into innovation. Johanna Asklin, Head of Business Development Life Science from Lund University will elaborate on what great innovation is and how to discover and support it at universities.

Last but not least, Niclas Nilsson, Head of R&D at LEO Pharma Open Innovation will discuss how open innovation can be used as a tool to foster innovation and collaboration between academia and industry.

Both of the two first sessions will conclude with a panel discussion about their respective topics.

Session 3: Future Hopes: Startups
To conclude the day, we have invited startups from different areas of life science to come and share their concept and science. A great opportunity to engage with the people behind and hear their inspiring stories that will inspire future entrepreneurs. The startups are to be announced.

To wrap up the summit, everyone is invited to stay afterwards for refreshments and networking.

Copenhagen Life Science Summit 2019 is a unique opportunity for you to network and socialize with your peers and get in touch with some of our partner companies who will be present at the summit with stands.
