DIKU Bits - Computational Impressionism: Hallucinating as a way of seeing

Foredrag — Hallucinations are all the buzz in mainstream media, often framed as a form of confabulation during a model's inference. However painters have historically instrumentalized hallucinations in order to communicate meaning, by figuring out how to guide our visual perception. In this talk Yannis will explore how this artistic tradition forms an intimate connection with both the earliest and most recent image-generation models. How can classifiers become image generators and how generative models can turn into detectors, revealing surprising hidden details in image collections.
