Gandhi in Denmark - Reflections, History and Future

Øvrige — Gandhi never visited Denmark, but his ideas did. His non-violent struggle against imperialism, practice of civil-disobedience, the eternal quest for truth, and the search for a sustainable way of human existence struck a deep chord in Denmark. These are the modern foundations upon which Indo-Danish bilateral relations have continued to evolve. In this symposium, we will revisit the forgotten connections forged between India and Denmark via Gandhi at the beginning of the 20th century. We will also reflect how these connections might shape the bilateral relations in the 21st century. 2019 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi.
