Public guest lecture by Shiro Yoshioka, Lecturer in Japanese Studies, University of Newcastle. The talk will focus on the role of producer Suzuki Toshio and the mechanism of promotion he developed that made Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki so popular and successful.
Shiro Yoshioka is currently writing a research monograph on the life and works of Miyazaki Hayao.
The lecture is part of JapanSessions, a lecture series funded by the Scandinavia-Japan Sasakawa Foundation.
