Abstract
The HEXACO Model of Personality is empirically derived from lexical studies across many languages and is evolutionary based since its six traits are associated with different evolutionary concepts. Based on the HEXACO model, this thesis investigated two broad topics, one concerning the relation between the HEXACO model and the Big Five, and the other concerning the application of the HEXACO model into three life areas, including politics, job performance and mate selection. Regarding the former, the thesis systematically reviewed the current knowledge of Honesty-Humility, and examined the relation between the HEXACO model and the Big Five aspects. Regarding the latter, the thesis examined the relation between facets of authoritarianism and the HEXACO dimensions, investigated the interaction between Honesty-Humility and perception of work environment on job performance, explored two types of ideal partner preferences (similarity versus better-ness), and examined assumed similarity between intimate partners.
