Open up your Academic Publishing Toolbox - a course for PhD students

Forelæsning — Academic publishing is a cornerstone in any research career and the foundation for how universities and funders evaluate the researchers. This course will address the opportunities and challenges that you as a PhD student might face in the process of publishing your research, as journal articles (or monographs) and data publications. The aim of the course is to provide you with knowledge, skills and tools for publishing your research openly and responsibly while fulfilling the requirements of your university, your funder and your research community.

Copenhagen University Library offers again the PhD course ‘Open Up Your Academic Publishing Toolbox’ in the spring 2023 for PhD students. Course participation is credited with 1 ECTS. Academic staff (VIP) is also welcome to attend the course.

As participant, you will gain insight into many different facets regarding research publishing, and you will be introduced to practical tools you can use in your PhD project and additional research activities.

The following themes will be presented in the course:

Copyright in publishing
Creative Commons licenses
Open Access publishing
Responsible metrics and responsible evaluation of researchers
Management and optimization of researcher profiles
Data management and the FAIR principles

The course is a combination of presentations, discussions and exercises. The course is held in English.

As PhD student, you will be credited with 1 ECTS after participation.
