Abstract: Sexual and gender diverse (SGD) individuals make up close to 10% of the world’s population; however, their lived experiences – challenges and strengths – remain relatively understudied. Moreover, most research with SGD individuals includes those who identify as White from Western cultures; thus, limiting our understanding of intersectional experiences across the globe. To address these gaps, this talk presents research on SGD individuals across 16 nations to identify both challenges and strengths that can offer important implications for researchers, clinicians, and global policy makers alike.
The talk is based on Ashley Randall’s recent book: Experiences of sexual minority and gender diverse individuals in romantic relationships: Heeding a global call. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge Press.
