Abut the film
In the face of industrialised fishing the tidal wave of effects is vast. Through an investigative lens, a look into the disastrous effects on a small town is explored. Local fishermen in the town of Tombo are challenged by the pressures caused due to an increase of Asian trawlers. Historically, the town has relied on the fishing industry to provide protein for the country. With recent influxes putting pressure on local industry, the fishermen are pressed to migrate for work, distrusting livelihood and destroying the environment. Join us for the screening of The New Boats and allow the voices to tell the story of resilience in the fight against environmental injustice.
